Summer time is a time for being festive, spending endless hours in the sun and sipping on cocktails all day long. However, it’s easy to overindulge on calories with liquids and drinks. Cocktails and summer drinks contain many hidden calories and are usually very high in sugar content. Alcohol in itself contains many calories. Be aware and conscious when you’re making drinks choices this summer.
This Pina Colada is a great alternative since it’s made with fresh fruit and contains many health benefits.
Pineapple is packed with Vitamin C which boosts your immune system and has antioxidant benefits. Pineapple also contains a decent amount of fibre which may assist digestive processes in our tummies. It also serves as a natural fat burner since it contains the enzyme bromelain which is anti-inflammatory and shreds belly fat.
Coconut is a superfood and can be used in so many different forms. Coconut water is one of the best liquids to pour into our summer drinks since it contains tons of electrolytes which rehydrates your body and prevents dehydration on those hot summer days.
Mango can also be classified as a superfood since they holds over 20 different vitamins and minerals. Talk about nutritious foods right?
Bioactive compounds and phytochemicals in mango may suppress fat cells and fat-related genes, which some believe may assist with weight control. However, mangos have high sugar content, so be careful of the quantity you consume per serving.
